How to Choose an Image Measuring Machine?
Image measuring machines currently on the market can be broadly categorized into manual, CNC, high-precision, and compound types based on their structure, usage, and application. Users can select the appropriate type of image measuring machine according to their workpiece measurement requirements.
01. Manual Type - An Economical Alternative to Measuring Microscopes
When a measuring microscope cannot meet edge detection or height measurement needs, the auto-focus function of the manual image measuring machine QS-L model allows for easy height measurement. Measurements that previously required separate optical measuring instruments and dial indicators can now be combined into this single machine, saving measurement time.
The manual QS-L/AFC comes standard with image auto-focus, making height measurement easier. Interchangeable objectives and a 7x optical zoom lens enable more accurate fine measurement. High-brightness 4-quadrant LED ring illumination ensures clearer edge detection.
For measuring stepped workpieces or cylindrical workpieces, the Quick Image model equipped with a telecentric optical system features an exceptionally large depth of field up to 22mm, minimizing errors caused by step height differences.
The Quick Image offers an on-screen accuracy of ±1.5μm and a repeatability of ±0.7μm in high-resolution mode. It can focus over a large area, achieving high-precision measurement. Its rigid structure supports workpieces up to 20kg, allowing measurement of large workpieces like aluminum castings and washers placed on the stage.
02. CNC Type - Balancing Measurement Efficiency and Precision
If there is a need to further enhance measurement efficiency and precision, CNC automatic measurement models are the ideal choice.
Using the entry-level CNC image measuring machine QV Active enables automatic measurement. Operators do not need to constantly watch the measuring instrument and can perform other tasks simultaneously, significantly improving measurement efficiency.
The QV Active utilizes a color camera and interchangeable objectives, with a ZOOM lens offering up to 7.5x zoom ratio. It caters to various measurement needs, from large field-of-view measurements at low magnifications emphasizing efficiency to fine measurements at high magnifications.
The standard CNC image measuring machine QV APEX Pro is equipped with a tracking auto-focus system that instantly focuses on the workpiece, greatly improving measurement efficiency. It can be equipped with the STREAM function, which synchronizes XY stage drive with strobe illumination, enabling non-stop image measurement without halting the stage, substantially reducing measurement time.
Both the QV Active and QV APEX Pro can also be equipped with a contact probe, allowing for continuous measurement of 3D workpieces like molds and plastic molded parts without switching processes. A single machine can meet diverse measurement needs, including side and height dimensions.
03. High-Precision Type - Suitable for Ultra-High Precision and High-Throughput Measurement
QV ULTRA Ultra-High Precision Image Measuring Machine
Features a high-rigidity fixed bridge design with a moving stage on the Y-axis, achieving superior measurement accuracy. Measurement accuracy reaches EUX/EUY, MPE=0.35+1.3L/1000μm, satisfying ultra-high precision requirements.
QV HYPER Pro High-Precision Image Measuring Machine
A high-precision image measuring machine equipped with a tracking auto-focus system for instant workpiece focusing, significantly boosting efficiency. It also comes standard with an automatic temperature compensation function using temperature sensors from both the machine body and the workpiece.
04. Compound Type - Enabling Simultaneous Measurement of Fine Steps and 3D Shapes
QVH4 Pro CNC Image Measuring Machine with Non-Contact Displacement Sensor
A compound measuring machine equipped with a chromatic confocal non-contact displacement sensor, utilizing scanning functions to measure fine steps and 3D shapes. Its displacement sensor uses an LED light source and features automatic light adjustment, allowing continuous measurement even on materials with different reflectivity.
QVH1 Pro CNC Image Measuring Machine with Non-Contact Displacement Sensor
A compound measuring machine equipped with a non-contact displacement sensor, utilizing scanning functions to measure fine steps and 3D shapes. The displacement sensor employs a dual-pinhole measurement principle, with a laser spot diameter of only about 2 μm, enabling measurement of fine shapes.
