Cavity machining is very common in mold manufacturing. This type of machining places high demands on the anti-interference capability of the tool holder. In the past, cavity machining often utilized slim hydraulic tool holders, heat shrink holders, or carbide shanks with milling cutter heads.
Traditional Machining Methods
Slim Hydraulic Holders & Heat Shrink Holders: Due to their limited clamping diameter for tools, these are mainly used for semi-finishing and finishing operations. They are not suitable for roughing that requires efficient material removal.
Carbide Shank with Milling Cutter Head: This method can be used for roughing, but its effectiveness in suppressing vibration is relatively limited.
