With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the robotics industry is profoundly changing our production models. New types of robots, represented by humanoid robots, not only possess intelligent perception capabilities but also exhibit higher precision and sensitivity in motion control, ensuring excellent balance control. This places high demands on the machining accuracy of motion control components such as RV reducers.


How to efficiently and accurately inspect such products? This issue is gradually gaining attention within the industry. We will focus on this demand and specifically introduce several measurement solutions.

RV Reducer

The RV reducer is commonly used in the field of robotics. Its working principle is mainly based on its unique two-stage reduction structure, a "hybrid" of traditional cycloidal gears and planetary gear transmission devices. The eccentric motion of the gears causes the meshing and disengagement of the rollers and the cycloidal RV teeth, thus imposing high requirements on the machining accuracy and inspection capabilities of the internal components.

Workpiece Purpose

The eccentric shaft is generally fixed on the motor rotation shaft via an eccentric hole and performs a cam motion when the motor starts. As a primary reduction component of the RV reducer, the eccentric shaft is used for the smooth transmission of power and torque.

For rotating bearing workpieces like the eccentric shaft, their roundness, cylindricity, and coaxiality significantly impact the overall functionality. 2. RV Cycloidal Gear Measurement Example

Workpiece Purpose

The cycloidal gear primarily engages with the pin gear housing and rollers for transmission. It is one of the important components of the RV reducer and has a crucial impact on the overall accuracy, service life, and performance of the robotic arm.

Measurement Recommendation

The cycloidal gear is relatively thick and heavy, with teeth on the outer edge. It mainly ensures transmission accuracy through meshing transmission with other components. Its measurement items are numerous and require high precision. Consider using a high-precision CNC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), which can perform traditional contact measurements and also be equipped with a scanning probe for contour scanning, making it an ideal choice for measuring such workpieces.

Tips

Common hardness parameters include Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers hardness. Rockwell hardness corresponds to the hardness parameter of hard steel and alloy material workpieces themselves. A Rockwell Hardness Tester can be used to evaluate the hardness.
