Bidirectional Serial Communication | Let Computers "Manage" Measuring Tools, Faster and Simpler

In the measurement field, it has become a reality for measuring tools to transmit measurement data to computers in real time. However, computers often only receive this data and cannot effectively "schedule" and "manage" the measuring tools. Can tedious and repetitive operations such as zero adjustment before measurement and setting tolerances one by one be easily completed on the computer?

Mitsutoyo's 'Bidirectional Serial Communication' function breaks the limitations of traditional one-way data transmission, enabling true "dialogue" between measuring tools and computers.

Tool End

During measurement, the tool automatically transmits real-time data to the computer end, eliminating the need for manual recording and input. Data statistics or analysis can be directly performed on the computer.

Computer End

With one click, change the tool's settings (tolerance settings, calculation coefficients, etc.), simplify zero adjustment operations, and quickly copy identical settings to multiple tools, greatly improving work efficiency.

From "One-Way Transmission" to "Two-Way Dialogue"

The core function of bidirectional serial communication is to support controlling and setting the tool end through the computer end. Using the new ID-C/ID-F digital indicators that support bidirectional serial communication as an example, we introduce the main advantages of this function:

One-Touch Zero Adjustment and Preset

You only need to click "Zero" in the computer software, and the command is transmitted to the tool to start a new measurement, without manually operating each one, achieving one-touch zero adjustment and saving time.

One-Touch Power On/Off

From the computer, you can perform one-touch power on and off for multiple connected digital indicators, saving time and effort.

Batch Settings, Copy to Other Tools

This function supports configuring parameters (tolerance, resolution, counting direction, calibration date reminder, etc.) for one indicator from the computer end. These settings can be saved to the computer and synchronized to other indicators of the same model, eliminating individual setup for each tool.

To experience these convenient functions, you only need:

  1. A computer (with dedicated software ITPAK V3.0 installed)
  2. Mitsutoyo measuring tools supporting bidirectional serial communication
  3. Corresponding data connection cables

Tools currently supporting bidirectional serial communication:

  • New Digital Indicators ID-C/ID-F Series

  • New Digital Micrometers QuantuMike MD-E Series
