Application Case of BIG Angle Head in the Medical Device Field
Machining Challenges:
Technical Difficulties
- Material is 7075-T6, requiring coaxiality of three holes within 0.01mm.
- Both Hole B and Hole C are stepped holes, with Hole B's diameter larger than Holes A and C. Due to this structural characteristic, they cannot be completed in one machining operation by rotating the rotary table.
Optimized Process Solution
Utilized BIG Angle Head BBT40-AG90/NBS13-170.
The process was adjusted to "assemble first, then complete machining in one operation." Since only one setup is required, this not only significantly improves machining efficiency but also ensures product machining accuracy.
Before putting the angle head into operation, the customer conducted a precision check. At a distance of 4D from the collet port of the angle head's output shaft, the runout accuracy was within 0.005mm. This is a critical condition for ensuring the three-hole coaxiality within 0.01mm after machining.
Original Machining Method:
Used vertical milling with separate operations, followed by assembly. After assembly, the coaxiality of the three holes (A, B, C) exceeded tolerance, and machining efficiency was very low.
